I was thrilled to be commissioned this week to create centerpieces for a very important luncheon held at the prestigious Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The company is in mining (as in gold and silver) and they were hosting a lunch for business associates that were in town for a National Mining Conference.
The organizer (one of my favourite people to work with as she is a lovely woman!) wanted something striking that incorporated the mining of gold and silver in a creative way. Since flowers do not come in gold or silver we had to think outside the box to incorporate the colour scheme in the florals themselves.
I decided to use gold and silver rock layered in a tall stemmed vase and keep the flowers themselves white. We didn’t want to cross over into tacky. I decided on a dendrobium orchid spray on top and the result was beautiful! It took almost 500 orchid stems to create the all of the centerpieces!
Here you can see some images of the room and a detail of the layered rock. The client was just as thrilled with the result as I was, which always makes my day. Just goes to show how little details can go a long way 🙂
