A White Wedding at The Ontario Science Centre

Who would have thought a wedding at the Ontario Science Centre, amidst all of the wonderful exhibits, could be so pretty?! Well that is exactly how Amanda’s evening ceremony and reception turned out… absolutely gorgeous.

Amanda chose a beautiful blue green colour for her bridesmaids dresses so we decided on an all white palette with lots of romantic texture. Despite the modern venue location, Amanda wanted a romantic feel so we used fluffy peonies and unique white spider mums for the bridesmaids bouquets. The bridal bouquet of white peony, roses and freesia also had a very special addition to it. A piece of lace from the mother in law was used as a backdrop for flower appliques from the bride’s mothers wedding gown to create a custom bouquet wrap incorporating both families. A beautiful and sentimental detail indeed!

The ceremony took place in the Science Arcade, a large space which when cleared is completely black. Not your typical wedding space, but definitely a blank canvas. The focal point of the ceremony became the backdrop of 1000 white paper cranes crafted by Amanda and her family. We lined the aisle with nosegays of white fluffy hydrangea and roses, interspersed with large metal lanterns and glowing pillar candles. Suddenly the plain black room became a romantic evening setting for a ceremony!

The reception took place in the Hot Zone, which is a room that features frosted glass walls lit from within to change colour on a cycle. So every few second the colour of the room changed, which was a really beautiful effect! The reception was a cocktail style with food stations and different sized tables for guests to choose where to eat. So we created a high and low centerpiece version to give some variation to the room and function well on the different sized tables. Both arrangements consisted of white hydrangea, roses and spider mums, either in a low glass dish or atop a white frosted glass tower vase. Along with lots of twinkling votive candles the decor complimented the room, without overpowering it.

The gorgeous cake was created by friend and former teacher of the Bride, and featured over 900 hand made flowers!
