A Rustic Wine & Cheese Theme at Ancaster Mill

The scenic garden and fallsview room of the Ancaster Mill provided the beautiful backdrop for Stephanie and Shane’s rustic wedding. Aiming for a Wine & Cheese themed affair, Stephanie gravitated to shades of deep purple, green and white with lots of homemade touches. She wanted simple and natural elements, and all the little details came together wonderfully.

Preferring sleek single bloom bouquets, Stephanie immediately gravitated towards calla lilies, and when I showed her the stunning Picasso calla, with its purple center she fell for them. I loaded the bridal bouquet with them and the result was simply gorgeous. A matching boutonniere for the groom accented with twine, pulled the bridal look together.

White calla lily bouquets were the perfect complement to the plum bridesmaids dresses she choose, wrapped in matching satin ribbon.

The ceremony took place in the mill’s garden, tucked away across a charming little bridge and through a secret garden-esque trellis. The aisle was a lovely stone walkway leading to another whitewashed trellis. Iron shepherd’s hooks lined the aisle, with mason jars filled with hydrangea, button poms and purple mums. Alternating each chair were wooden disc’s, carved with phrases of love, handmade by the groom. A large arrangement of hydrangea, purple mums and greenery hung on the trellis, above the couple.

The reception took place in the Fallsview room, aptly named for its view of the waterfall and stream cutting through the property. With a wall of floor to ceiling windows the room was filled with natural light and scenery from the outdoor trees and gardens. Gallery style guest tables were lined with small arrangements of mum, button poms and hydrangea. Table numbers made out of wine bottles and giant wreaths made out of coffee filters (can you believe it!) were some of the do it yourself details made by the bridal party.

The icing on the proverbial cake was the adorable cake topper made by the groom, which sat atop the “cake” made of rounds of cheese, later dismantled and set out on a cheese table for late night snacking. Definitely a great alternative for couples who don’t like cake!

Congratulations to the beautiful couple Stephanie & Shane and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
