Planning a wedding can be stressful enough, let alone planning a wedding in an entirely different province! When I first spoke with James, it was on the phone from Vancouver, Canada. He and his fiance were planning a wedding in their hometown of Toronto from afar. So rather than a face to face consultation we designed and planned their wedding flowers all via phone, email and my trusty idea boards.
Rich fall colours were what they were after with an emphasis on orange, cranberry and sage green. A natural look with lots of texture was what the bride gravitated towards, so we designed her bouquet packed full of textural mums, bi-coloured roses, calla lilies, leucandendron, berries and mini cymbidium orchids. The combination of colours was just extraordinary!
For the bridesmaids we made simpler versions with rich roses, spray roses, leucadendron and berries in shades of orange and berry. Gorgeous colours against their black dresses.
The boutonnieres matched the respective bouquets, with the grooms featuring a mango calla lily with mini cymbidium orchid while the groomsmen sported a bi-colour rose with button pom and rosebud detailing.
Both the ceremony and reception took place in the heart of downtown Toronto, at the beautiful and intimate Rosewater Room. This of course meant a full room flip during cocktail hour to convert from ceremony to reception. But the great thing about this strategy is that we get to use all of the flowers twice! Low vases of hydrangea, roses, gerbera daisies, mums, stock & button poms lined the aisle with a scattering a rose petals. Flanking the altar were two large arrangements brimming with fall flowers and creating a focal point. The richness we got from using all the lovely fall shades was breathtaking.
After the sweet and personalized ceremony, guests retreated downstairs for cocktails while we set to work flipping the room. The bride and groom added many personalized love filled details to their day, including the ornately framed table numbers they hand crafted, the wine bottles mounted with the evenings menu and the football themed cake topper (both the bride and groom are huge football fans, though they root for different teams!)
You could feel the love in the room for this wonderful couple, whom included their nearest and dearest family and friends in their special day. Congratulations to Jeaninne and James and best wishes for a long and happy marriage. We were so happy to be apart of your special day!
