A Whimsical Winter Wedding and a Farewell to 2013

Though not the typical season for weddings, winter does inspire some beautiful themes, colour schemes and decor elements for one. For one thing, anything that sparkles seems all the more necessary and we are always on board with that! Our beautiful bride Jessica wanted to embrace the snowy season for her late November wedding with a palette of white, black & grey combining natural elements like evergreen, willow and birch with sparkly accents for a winter wonderland come to life.

Using all white flowers with natural elements for her floral suite Jessica’s bouquet was full of soft romantic texture. Lush white roses, mini calla lilies and fluffy astilbe were accented with soft grey dusty miller and seeded eucalyptus greens. The bridesmaids carried sleek and simple white calla lily nosegays to set off their elegant black lace gowns.

The church boasted vaulted ceilings and a very long aisle (over 100 feet!) so the effect was grandeur. Tall arrangements of hydrangea, roses, wax flower, spider mums and evergreen sat atop glass vases with birch poles and flanked the altar. Nosegays of hydrangea, wax flower, evergreen and curly willow were tied to the pews with white satin ribbon. A pristine white runner lead the way for the bride’s walk down the aisle.

The reception took place at the Embassy Grand Event Center in Brampton where we set to work to create a winter wonderland scape that still kept guests feeling warm and cozy. Tables dressed with slate grey linens set off the alternating high and low centerpieces of white hydrangea, roses, wax flower, seeded eucalyptus, evergreen and curly willow. The cylinder vases for the tall centerpieces were filled with an assortment of Christmas ornaments in varied finishes of white, silver and grey to add to the festive season and add a bit of shine. The large altar pieces made the trip to grace the parents tables and the aisle flowers were cut down and placed in low vases as additional florals for the receiving tables.

As our last wedding of 2013, Jessica and Matt’s was bittersweet. While we are grateful for the break until next season to rest and recuperate from a very busy year, we truly love creating spectacular wedding florals and don’t like our hands being idle for too long. It was great to end the season with such a sweet couple, who not only looked fabulous in their wedding attire, but were completely in love in every moment. Best wishes to Jessica and Matt on a happy, prosperous marriage, and happy holidays to you all. We have some great designs lined up for 2014 and we can’t wait to show you all!
