Inspired by the Tropics

Tropical themed weddings are usually reserved for the Islands, but our Bride Jessica knew she wanted to create an island paradise for her summer wedding. Lucky for her she got the hot weather to go along with it! Our challenge was to create a tropical design using more readily available flowers, since tropical flowers are more expensive to import. What we came up with was a rainbow palette that was hot, sassy and all things island inspired!

Jessica wanted literally every colour in her bouquet, so we combined a variety of blooms in bright tropical shades. Yellow and orange lilies, red pin cushion protea, green spider mums, fuchsia roses and blue and pink dendrobium orchids shaped into a subtle teardrop with tropical leaves around the boarder.  It was massive and fit for an island queen!

Bridesmaids carried equally colourful bouquets of lilies, roses and orchids with a folded leaf collar. They went beautifully with their floor length coral dresses!

The ceremony took place inside the Cardinal Golf Club, since the couple wanted to ensure the air-conditioned comfort of their guests on the hot summer day. We tied aisle markers of orange lilies, blue dendrobium orchids and tropical leaves to the chairs with coral ribbon and lined the aisle with colourful rose petals and orchid blooms. The altar pieces were large arrangements of tropical foliage and bright flowers.

After a quick room flip the reception space was transformed with a mix of high and low centerpieces featuring the same tropical coloured flowers. Glass candle holders filled with sand also tied in the island theme. The long head table was dressed with more rose petals and orchid blooms and the bouquets were lined up along its length in glass vases as added decor. The result was a true statement in colour!

It was such fun to design a different style of wedding for this sweet couple. Best wishes to Jessica and Brian on a happy, healthy marriage!
