We love collaborating with other creative minds so when graphic designer Tara came to us for her wedding flowers we jumped at the chance to bring her vision to life. With a wedding in Toronto’s historical Distillery District Tara was going for a romantic yet laid back atmosphere with a pretty pink and gold colour scheme.
For her bouquets Tara coveted the peony. With her wedding being in early July we cautioned that they might not be available since they are typically a May – June flower. We of course had a backup plan, but we simply had to try to get them for her. Lucky for us we got in the last peonies of the season just for her! A combination of white, soft blush and light pink peonies with dusty miller foliage made her stunning bridal bouquet with the bridesmaids having identical smaller versions.
Both the ceremony and reception took place at Archeo Restaurant in the Distillery District. The space features a charming cobblestone outdoor patio where the ceremony took place. We created a sort of archway for the altar made out of birch logs and dressed with lots of trailing greenery for a romantic and organic look. In one corner a floral spray of mums, lisianthus, rose and spray roses added a touch of colour to the frame.
Inside the restaurant, the reception space featured long narrow tables with multiple vases of pink blooms. Glass milk jug style vases of varying heights were filled with combinations of roses, stock flower, lisianthis, mums, waxflower and dusty miller and scattered along the table length. The addition of gold mercury votive candles added a touch of glimmering gold to the look.
Some finishing touches throughout the space included a gold birdcage acting as the card box. We added a few blooms and some trailing greenery to the top to make this a pretty showpiece at the receiving table!
Finally the gorgeous sweet table, created by The Sweet Escape Patisserie, was covered in pretty pink confections all in individual bite size form! A wide array of cookies, macaroons and donuts flanked the gold confetti wedding cake and made for a lovely display. Of course we added a few floral touches to the table including the pink rose cake topper.
We were so thrilled to work with Tara to create her dream day. It was a beautiful wedding and from what we could tell when we came back in the evening for take down, one heck of a party! We wish the happy couple a long a love filled marriage and long life together!
