Every once in awhile we vendors meet a couple that we instantly connect with. Not just on a professional design level, but personally as well. People you become true friends with. Such was the case with Lara & Adrian, one of the sweetest, most down to earth couples we’ve come across who truly look at each other with love in their eyes (and a sharp, witty sense of humour to boot!) With the help of her wedding planner sister Lindsay of Lindsay Taryn Weddings & Events, we set out to create a design full of vintage glamour, with soft colours and romantic detailing that fit perfectly with their gorgeous venue, The Berkeley Church in downtown Toronto. Captured by pro photographer George Paatashvili from Studio 2000 Photography & Cinema these breathtaking images are sure to leave you inspired!
Favouring a neutral colour palette we designed soft and romantic florals for every element of the day and Lara’s bridal bouquet was no exception. A combination of soft peach and champagne roses, ivory calla lilies, gold tinted astilbe and soft grey silver brunia and dusty miller created a glamourous bouquet befitting the vintage vibe. Wrapped with gold satin ribbon and lace overlay the special detail of a silver locket with her late grandmothers picture was a surprise gift from her sister and maid of honour, Lindsay. A similar bouquet was carried by MOH Lindsay and complemented both girls intricately beaded gowns.
Special attention was paid to groom Adrian’s boutonniere of ivory spray roses and silver brunia. Gold accents we incorporated with gold tinted greenery, decorative wire and clock gear charms to fit the vintage theme.
The ceremony took place on the mezzanine level of The Berkeley Church in front of the floor to ceiling stained glass windows. Shepherd’s hooks holding arrangements of hydrangea, peach and blush roses, dusty miller and gold tinted baby’s breath lined the aisle way and sported heart shaped packets of confetti for guests to throw at the first kiss. Vignettes were created at the altar space using a pair of regal lucite candelabra’s loaded with matching flowers and wrought iron birdcages holding candles and overflowing with baby’s breath. Even the little window ledge was covered in candles and baby’s breath.
The reception space featured a cluster style arrangement on round guest tables consisting of a tall vase with baby’s breath globe, a low mixed floral arrangement of hydrangea, roses, baby’s breath and dusty miller and a mercury glass candlestick with glowing luminary. All of the mercury glass vases and candlestick were found by the bride who chose a variety of pieces in different shapes and colours to add to the vintage eclectic design. Ivory beaded table linens from Italy and gold and silver charger plates added just the right amount of texture and sparkle.
The head table, set up as a king’s table for the wedding party and family, showcased the pair of candelabra arrangements from the ceremony as well as low accent florals that covered the center of the table. A variety of mercury candlesticks and votive candles mixed throughout gave the table a soft romantic glow.
We were truly thrilled with the result of this wedding design and are so thankful to have made friends with such a wonderful family. Congratulations to Lara & Adrian and lots of love for a happy marriage!
